The ongoing events in the region and the collapse of dictatorial governments will serve national security and peace and negate terrorism in a long period,” said Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in a meeting with the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative in Iraq, Ed Melkart, in the Iranian capital city of Tehran on Monday.
“The creation of democratic governments in the region would help disprove terrorism and establish sustainable security and stability in Iraq,” he added.
Larijani noted that true democracy, respect for Iraq’s national sovereignty and withdrawal of the occupiers would serve as basic solutions to the country’s development.
“Iran’s principled policy is based on respect for Iraq’s territorial integrity, independence and political sovereignty and the strengthening of its national solidarity and democracy,” the Majlis speaker added.
He emphasized that the Islamic Republic has so far spared no efforts in helping the government and nation of war-torn Iraq.
