Latest map update from East Ghouta battle

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has been rolling through the eastern corridor of the East Ghouta region lately, capturing several localities from the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Islam.

Led by the Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army began their offensive on Sunday, when they took control of one large hilltop and three towns, including Al-Nashabiyah, Al-Salihiyah, and Hazrama.

Following this preliminary advance, the Syrian Army cleared several points around Hawsh Dawahra before imposing full control over this town located northeast of Utaya.

Since capturing Hawsh Dawahra, the Syrian Army has advanced to the towns of Al-Shifouniyah and Utaya, where they have entered the former and still pressing into the latter.

Jaysh Al-Islam launched a counter-offensive, today, to recapture their lost points; however, this ultimately failed after several hours of fighting.

The Syrian Army is expected to kick off another big assault, tonight, following the previous attacks they have launched in the past 72 hours.
