Certain countries want Iraq back to its previous situation: Commander

Commander of the Army’s ground forces Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan warned on Monday that certain countries want Iraq to return to its previous situation.

According to IRNA, addressing a local gathering, Commander Pourdastan stressed that the terrorists affiliated to Daesh (Islamic State in Iraq and Levant) terrorist outfit have launched a large scale operation in Iraq.

Pourdastan expressed hope that the Iraqi people and army could perform their duty in confronting the Daesh terrorist group.

He added Iraq enjoys an important political and geographical situation in the region and possesses huge oil reserves which explains why western and regional countries have cast a covetous eye on the country.
