Leader Commemorates Imam Khomeini’s Passing with Keynote Address

On the 36th anniversary of Imam Khomeini’s passing, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Ummah and Oppressed, addressed the nation in a live televised speech from the mausoleum of the Islamic Republic's late founder, located in southern Tehran, on Wednesday, June 4.

The 36th anniversary of the passing of Imam Khomeini, founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, is being commemorated in a large-scale ceremony attended by Iranian citizens, senior officials, foreign diplomats, and international guests.

The ceremony, held at the Mausoleum of Imam Khomeini in Southern Tehran suburbs, features a keynote address by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

Imam Khomeini led the 1979 Islamic Revolution, which resulted in the overthrow of the Pahlavi monarchy and the establishment of a new political system grounded in Islamic principles. He passed away on June 3, 1989.In his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei praised Imam Khomeini as a timeless leader whose influence continues to shape global political thought.

“The leader of our revolution is a great man whose presence in the world is still tangible after thirty-odd years since his passing, and the impact of his revolution is clearly visible to people around the world,” he said.
