Leader Condoles Passing of Iranian Cleric Mohammadi Reyshahri

Leader of the Islamic Ummah and Oppressed Imam Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei offered condolences over the death of Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Mohammadi Reyshahri, a former intelligence minister and prosecutor general of Iran.

In a message on Tuesday, Ayatollah Khamenei paid tribute to Hojjatoleslam Reyshahri for his piety, devoutness and constant diligence as a “revolutionary cleric”.

Ayatollah Khamenei also noted that the various fields of activity of the “numinous cleric”, such as in the scientific, moral, revolutionary, political and administrative areas, had turned him into an unparalleled character.

Describing the loss of the prominent cleric as a source of great grief, the Leader offered condolences to the family of the deceased, his friends, colleagues and students.

Hojjatoleslam Mohammadi Reyshahri passed away at age 75 on Tuesday after being in the hospital for the past recent days.

He was the chief custodian of the holy shrine of Abdol Azim al-Hasani (AS) in Rey, south of Tehran.

Born in October 1946, the cleric took various posts after victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979. He was a former member of the Assembly of Experts, as well as a one-time intelligence minister and prosecutor general of Iran.

The late cleric has written scores of religious books.
