Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, expressed skepticism about the potential outcomes of the current indirect nuclear negotiations with the United States, stating that he does not anticipate any fruitful results from these discussions.
The Leader made comments during a speech at a ceremony conducted on Monday, marking the first anniversary of President Raisi’s martyrdom.
Imam Khamenei, in his statements, discussed the issue of nuclear negotiations.
“The topic of nuclear negotiations was addressed,” he stated, also issuing a warning to counterparts, emphasizing that the American party involved in these indirect discussions should refrain from making baseless comments.
He emphasized that declarations such as “We will not allow Iran to enrich uranium” are inconsequential. “No one in Iran is waiting for others’ permission. The Islamic Republic has its own policies and methods and will pursue them independently,” he asserted.
An official has stated intentions to later address the Iranian populace regarding the strong insistence of the United States and its Western allies on halting uranium enrichment in Iran, vowing to reveal the underlying motives behind these demands.
Iranian negotiators, under the leadership of Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, participated in a fourth series of talks with a US delegation in Muscat on Sunday. The American contingent was led by the US President’s Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff.
Under Oman’s mediation, the negotiations have been characterized by both parties as constructive and advancing positively. The dialogues are centered on Iran’s nuclear program and the potential lifting of sanctions through an agreement that could succeed the 2015 landmark accord, from which the US withdrew unilaterally during Trump’s initial tenure.
