New aid batch distributed in al-Yarmouk Camp

A new batch of humanitarian aid was distributed to the residents of al-Yarmouk Camp in Damascus on Thursday with the supervision of the High Relief Committee, SANA reporter said.

Director of the General Commission of the Arab Palestinian Refugees, Ali Mustapha told SANA that the delivery of the new batch of aid was supervised by the Higher Relief Committee to distribute 900 food baskets within three days, in cooperation with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

He added that armed groups have been obstructing aid deliveries into the camp.

Member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command central committee, Abu Kifah Ghazi said the locals inside the camp are in dire conditions due to the acts of terrorist gangs.

Director of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) politburo in Damascus, Ambassador Anwar Abdul-Hadi, for his part, said that the resumption of food aid deliveries in the camp and the evacuation of humanitarian cases came following an agreement with the Syrian officials.

He said the PLO will leave no stone unturned to provide aid to the locals into the camp in cooperation with the Syrian government and UNRWA to ease the plight of the locals there.

The ambassador hailed the facilitations offered by the Syrian government to mitigate the suffering of the Palestinians in all refugee camps and its interest to not embroil the Palestinians in the Syrian crisis.
