Leader of the Islamic Ummah and Oppressed Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei appoints new members to Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution

In a decree, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution appointed the members of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution for the new four-year period and expressed his gratitude to the previous members, particularly the scholars and experts who will no longer be present in the new term. He referred to the foundation and general makeup of culture being based on revolutionary order and substance and being the only means for remaining safe against the cultural invasions and media attacks made by outsiders.

In the Name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Praise be to God, and may peace be upon his Prophet, Mustafa, and his pure Household (may God’s greetings be upon them all).

Entering the second forty years of the Islamic Revolution, which is simultaneous with the new century in the Solar Calendar, makes it essential to take a new critical, up-to-date approach toward the set of civilization infrastructures. Culture guides all fundamental, infrastructural activities in human societies and accelerates these activities or slows them down.

At the present time, this approach is primarily aimed at advancing the outlook and feeling of responsibility of the cultural authorities, the intellectuals and the activists in different fields toward the issue of culture. Also needed is the emergence of the deep belief that building culture in any of the civilizational components of society is the best means for its development and eliminates the need for the tools of domination and compulsion.

Additionally, it addresses the important point that the foundation and general makeup of culture in all its extensive areas requires a revolutionary order and substance. This is the only means for immunizing the public culture of a country against the planned cultural invasions and media attacks that are made by malevolent outsiders.

From the very beginning, the mission of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution was to organize the state of affairs of culture and science in the country, develop policies in these two areas, guide the responsible organizations toward the values and goals of the Revolution, satisfy the intellectual needs of the organizations, and assume the role of a cultural headquarters for the country.

The Supreme Council has provided valuable services in these fields and I believe it is necessary to express my sincere gratitude to all its respectable members who have played an influential role in different periods, particularly the scholars and experts who will no longer be present in the Council in the new term. I ask them to continue providing guidance to the Council.

For the new term, which will begin with the issue of this writing, I hereby appoint the following legal and real persons as members of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution.

Legal persons: For now, legal persons include the heads of the Three Powers (Three Branches of Government) and the institutions who have been members of the Supreme Council up until now.

Real persons: Mr. A’rafi, Mr. Iman Eftekhari, Mr. Amirhosein Bankipour Fard, Mr.Hamid Parsania, Mr. Adel Peyghami, Mr. Gholamali Haddad Adel, Mr. Hassan Rahimpour Azghadi, Mr. Ali Akbar Rashad, Mr. Hosein Sa’ee, Mr. Ibrahim Souzanchi, Mr. Saied Reza Ameli, Mr. Mansour Kabkanian, Mr. Ali Larijani, Mr. Mahmoud Mohammdi Araqi, Mr. Mohammad Reza Dezfuli, Mr. Morteza Mirbagheri, Mr. Sadegh Vaezzadeh, and Mr. Ahmad Vaezi.
