The Lebanese Armed Forces stepped up their military operations in the Ba’albak Highlands on Wednesday, targeting the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) positions at the village of Wadi Rafiq near the Lebanon-Syria border. According to a military source, the Lebanese Army devastated the Islamic State terrorists in the Ba’albak Highlands on Wednesday, killing over 15 enemy combatants as they attempted to expel the terrorist group from eastern Lebanon.

ISIS still maintains a rather large presence along the Syria-Lebanon border, despite being constantly targeted by the Lebanese Army and Hezbollah. In the coming months, the Lebanese Army will have to commit more soldiers to this front in order to expel the Islamic State terrorists from Jaroud ‘Arsal and the Ba’albak Highlands.
