Israel achieved no military goals in Gaza: Analyst

A US political commentator says the Israelis have not attained their goals in their onslaught against Palestinians; rather, they inflamed the world public opinion against themselves.

“They have not achieved any military objectives. All they have done is antagonizing the world public opinion against them,” Eugene Michael Jones, an editor at Culture Wars Magazine from Indiana, said in an interview with Press TV on Wednesday.

Jones said the Tel Aviv regime did not gain anything, but humiliation, by the massacre of defenseless women and children in the besieged Gaza Strip.

“So, yes, there would be a humiliation, but in this instance you have got world opinion now against you, so what are you going to do for an encore? Go back and kill more women and children?”
The analyst further said world bodies, including the United Nations and the International Criminal Court (ICC), are compromising their reputation by remaining tight-lipped in the face of Israelis atrocities against the people of Gaza.

“…what is at stake here is the credibility of these worldwide organizations like the United [Nations] and the International Criminal Court. If they ignore this, if they just kind of brush it aside, they will lose credibility too, they will go down with Israel and they are losing their credibility,” said Jones.
About 1,900 people, including women and children, were killed and over 9,500 others injured by the Israeli regime’s massive offensive that began on July 8.

Israeli warplanes pounded numerous sites in the Gaza Strip, demolishing houses and burying families under the rubble. Israeli forces also began a ground offensive against the impoverished Palestinian land on July 17.

A three-day humanitarian truce took effect at 8 a.m. (0500 GMT) Tuesday and Israeli troops withdrew from the coastal enclave.
