Mass protests in Gaza against Abbas’s punitive measures

Thousands of Palestinian citizens participated in massive rallies staged on Saturday evening and night in different areas of the Gaza Strip in protest at the ongoing punitive measures taken by the Palestinian Authority (PA) against them.

In northern Gaza, protesters carried placards and chanted slogans denouncing PA chief Mahmoud Abbas and his economic sanctions on Gaza, especially with regard to withheld salaries.

Similar protests also took place in al-Jala street in southern Gaza, ash-Shati refugee camp in western Gaza, and al-Najma area in Rafah.
