Mehmanparast condemns Western-sponsored UN draft resolution

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast has said leveling baseless accusations and charges against Iranian nationals living abroad is part of a Western scenario to exert pressure on Iran.
According to an IRNA report, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast, commented on Monday about the case of former Iranian diplomat, Nasrollah Tajik, who was recently exonerated and acquitted by the high court in London. Mehmanparast said it was a matter of regret that Western countries had resorted to leveling baseless accusations against Iranian nationals living abroad in order to target Iran’s “national interests”.
In further remarks, Ramin Mehmanparast said this type of carefully pre-planned scenario and accusations against Iranian nationals are meant to ratchet up pressure on Iran. He said Western countries level baseless charges against specific individuals , accusing them of trading in certain hi-tech commodities whose export to Iran has been banned. They then imprison these Iranian nationals on trumped-up charges, and totally ignore their rights.
On Thursday, 13 December, the High Court in Westminster, London, threw out the charges against the former Iranian diplomat, Nasrollah Tajik, declaring him to be innocent of the charges against him, and a free man. Tajik had been accused of attempting to export night-vision equipment to Iran . He was framed by the FBI and British authorities , and was jailed for a while, and then placed under house arrest, for six years. He was finally acquitted of any wrongdoing and the case against him was thrown out by the High Court in London on Thursday 13 December 2012.
Tajik is a former Iranian diplomat who served in the Iranian embassy in Jordan.
