‘US seeks to protect Zionist regime by Syria war’

Syria’s Ambassador to Tehran, Adnan Mahmoud, says Washington’s military strike against the Arab country aims to “support and protect” the Zionist regime in the region.

The envoy in a Thursday meeting in Tehran with representatives of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas (ALBA) said by attacking Syria, the US and the West seek to target the anti-Zionist resistance front in the region which comprises Syria, Iran, and Hezbollah.
He added the Syrian government and nation will defend their country by standing up to foreign plots and will emerge victorious.
He emphasized that Syria is not alone in countering the ongoing crisis and noted that certain countries in the region and across the world as well as the resistance front will support Damascus against any military attack.
Mahmoud pointed out Washington seeks to kill the Syrian people and wreak havoc on the country just as it has left behind a trail of death and destruction in Iraq and other US-occupied countries.
He added that the US has breached the UN Charter and other international regulations.
Mahmoud said the Syrian people and government will stand up to the West and the US and believe that they will finally achieve victory.
