“Mokhtarnameh” director returns with “The King Eared”, “Salman Farsi”

safe_imageDavud Mirbaqeri, the director of the religious historical TV series “Mokhtarnameh” has returned with “The King Eared”, a comedy serial which will be distributed on the home video market in the near future.
Mirbaqeri had previously directed “Imam Ali (AS)”, a TV series about the imamate of Ali (AS) and the events leading to his martyrdom. He also made several other series on events in the history of Islam.

He also plans to make “Salman Farsi”, a TV series about Salman al-Farisi, a national hero of Iran, who was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad (S).

“To refresh myself I need sometimes to change my field,” Mirbaqeri told the Persian service of ISNA on Saturday.

“I need to try a different atmosphere before I begin ‘Salman Farsi’. The shift in my field helps me do the job better and more perfect,” he added.

“The King Eared” is about a man who prepares and sells sheep’s heads and trotters. The man is killed in a car crash. A one-eyed man, the sole witness, only distinguishes the color and the make of the car that hit the man. The case officer summons all the green Peugeot 405 cars to begin the investigation.

Akbar Abdi, Farhad Aslani, Ahmad Mehranfar, Mohsen Tanabadeh, Tannaz Tabatabaii and Marjaneh Golchin are the main members of the cast.

Mirbaqeri had also made the controversial film “Snowman” (1994), which told the story of an Iranian man who tries every unusual method to get a visa to immigrate to the U.S. He also showed flashes of humor in the film.
