Mortar attacks kill nearly 20 in Syria’s Aleppo

Nearly 20 Syrians have been killed after mortar rounds fired by foreign-sponsored militants hit several areas in the northern city of Aleppo.

According to an unnamed source at Aleppo Police Command on Wednesday, several mortar shells struck residential areas in the city, including al-Fourqan, al-Meridian, al-Fayd, al-Jamiliye and Bustan Kul Abb, killing 17 people.
The official SANA news agency reported that at least 30 civilians were also injured in the attacks.
The death toll is expected to rise, as nine of the wounded are in critical condition.

The attacks also caused material damage to some houses, cars and stores nearby.
