Mottaki in Armenia for economic talks

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has arrived in Yerevan to attend a joint economic commission and confer with top Armenian officials.

On his arrival, Mottaki was welcomed by his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian.

Mottaki and the Armenian Energy and Natural Resources Minister Armen Movsisyan will chair the ninth session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, jointly held between Iran and Armenia.

Mottaki is also scheduled to meet other Armenian officials, including President Serge Sarkisian, Prime Minister Tigran Sarkisian, the Parliament Speaker Hovhannes Abrahamyan and the Secretary of the National Security Council Arthur Baghdasarian to discuss issues of mutual interest.

“Items on the bilateral economic cooperation agenda entail projects for building a railway to link the two countries, a third high-voltage power transmission line between Armenia and Iran, and two joint hydropower stations on the Aras border river, including the construction of a liquid fuel storage facility in Armenia’s territory” will be discussed between the officials of the two neighbors, said a statement issued by the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
