National Dialogue Sessions: Enhancing Independence of National Decision, Respecting Citizen’s Freedom

For the third day in a row, national dialogue sessions continued throughout the Syrian provinces and universities with the participation of representatives of various popular and unionist activities and academic and social figures from all spectrums of the society and political parties, as well as independent, and opposition representatives.

The talks dealt with enhancing the independence of national decision, preserving national sovereignty, respecting the freedom of citizen and the rule of law and building a state of institutions, justice and equality.

In Damascus, 350 economic, political, religious, cultural and media figures participated in the second day held at Damascus International Fairground, which focused on issues related to the youth, media, combating corruption, administrative and juridical reform and enhancing national unity.

The participants stressed the important role of youth as a basic pillar for the reform program, calling for establishing a commission or a ministry or a higher council for the youth with the government’s support.

They called for activating the role of national media as a link between the citizen and the centers of decision-making to fulfill its national duties in accordance with the public’s aspirations.

They also called for enhancing decentralization in the state’s institutions, ending bureaucracy and setting up a strategy to improve youth capacities and come up with a vision on crisis management.

At Damascus University, the ongoing talks dealt with political and educational issues, with the participants calling for separating between the national opposition and those who are supported by foreign parties, rejecting their calls for foreign interference in Syria’s internal affairs.

The second day dialogue sessions in Damascus Countryside province focused on services, health insurance and the education process.

In Hama province, the participants called for confronting those who seek foreign interference in Syria’s internal affairs, improving the citizens’ living conditions, solving transportation problems and health issues, combating corruption and achieving social justice.

National dialogue sessions in Idleb discussed the importance of dialogue and the youth role in political reform and the role of popular organizations in activating the social and political movement.

Today’s session of national dialogue in Daraa province dealt with the economic axis and the talks focused on financial and employment policies to encourage local, Arab and foreign investments, support export and import processes and protect the national product.

National dialogue sessions in Lattakia discussed the services sector to work on preventing economic waste, combating smuggling, regulating the real estate market and creating job opportunities, in addition to encouraging the agricultural sector, achieving integration between agricultural and industrial sectors and developing ports.

In Tartous province, the participants in national dialogue sessions called for making reforms in the public sector, reviewing the tax system, implementing the principle of equal opportunities and reviewing certain laws on land reclamation.

The national dialogue sessions in Raqqa tackled the economic and social axes, where the participants dealt with issues related to the financial, tax and investment policies and the priorities of agricultural and industrial development.

In Sweida province, the talks dealt with the importance of dialogue in enhancing the national unity and being stronger in the face of any form of foreign interference and all western plots, in addition to putting an end to the armed terrorist groups.

National dialogue sessions in Quneitra focused on the political axis in terms of rejecting foreign interference in the Syrian affairs and the need for adopting the constructive dialogue as the only way to overcome the crisis and reformulating the Syrian Constitution in terms of the issued decrees and legislations, in addition to activating the role of media to cope with the latest developments.

175 academic, intellectual and scientific figures participated in the second day of Aleppo national dialogue sessions.

The participants proposed forming a committee to follow up on the outcomes of these dialogue sessions, activating decentralization, funding small enterprises and upgrading the situation of health sector.

The talks dealt with paying more attention to transport sector and combating corruption.
