A top commander of the militant Free Syrian army group along with more than fifty other militants have been killed in a Syrian army ambush in Syria’s Homs.

The vast province of Homs which was the epicenter of the extremist-marked massive insurgency in Syria, has been scene of intense clashes between the national army of Syria and different militant groups.

In latest clashes, Abdulqader al-Jumaa, head of an FSA branch operating in Homs’s Joret al-Shayyah region has been killed, Al-Alam reporter in Syria said.

Another 30 militants have also been killed in an explosion in Homs, which was caused after the station where the armed groups were preparing car bombs was targeted.

Al-Alam reporter cited military sources as saying that two militant leaders from the al-Ansar group, along with several others, have also been killed in Souq al-Jaj, in Homs, while loading a car with explosive materials.

In Homs’s Tadmor Farms, the sources said, fourteen pieces of artifacts from Syria’s rich archeological and historic heritage were found in one of the militant bases which was taken by the army.

Syria sank into war in 2011 when pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following the intervention of Western and regional states.

The unrest, which took in terrorist groups from across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, has transpired as one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history
