Norwegian energy company ceases fuel sales to the US amidst tensions following Trump-Zelensky encounter

Haltbakk Bunkers, a leading Norwegian petroleum firm, has allegedly declared a halt on fuel sales to United States military forces. This decision comes in the wake of a high-profile disagreement at the White House involving President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

On Saturday, the company announced its backing of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky via social media, asserting, “No fuel for Americans!”

In a statement posted on Facebook, the company remarked, “Today we have observed what could be considered the most chaotic live television event ever staged by the current American president and his vice president.”

In a tense Oval Office encounter, former President Donald Trump and former Vice President JD Vance expressed strong criticism towards Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, accusing him of risking a broader international conflict by opposing a peace agreement with Russia. The two US leaders commended Zelensky for his composure amid what they described as a US betrayal depicted in a television broadcast, which they found profoundly unsettling.

“As a consequence, we have resolved to immediately cease our role as fuel supplier to American forces stationed in Norway, as well as to their vessels docked at Norwegian ports,” the statement concluded.

The proprietor, chairman, and chief executive officer of Haltbakk Bunkers, a company responsible for supplying around 3 million liters of fuel to the United States military in 2024, announced that the choice to discontinue supplies to the US military was made promptly following the observation of the recent conflict.

Gunnar Gran announced that the company is exercising its discretion in selecting its clientele, stating, “We are selective about our customer base, and no deliveries will be made until the conclusion of President Trump’s tenure.”

Gran stated that the United States has been excluded due to its conduct towards the Ukrainians.

Gran issued a call to action for companies domestically and throughout Europe to emulate their example by distancing themselves from American entities.
