Obama warns North Korea over another nuclear test

US President Barack Obama says North Korea should expect a firm response from the international community over conducting another nuclear test.

According to Press TV, he said, “If North Korea were to make the mistake of engaging in another nuclear test, it should expect a firm response from the international community.”

Obama issued the warning in an interview with South Korea’s JoongAng Daily newspaper as he arrived in Seoul on Friday.

South Korean officials announced on April 23 that North Korea might conduct a fourth nuclear test at any moment. Pyongyang last conducted a test in February 2013.

Obama said, “Pyongyang will gain absolutely nothing from another nuclear test except to deepen its own isolation from the global community.”

The US president also said there is “still another path” for North Korea, adding that the country can “meet its obligations, relinquish its nuclear and ballistic missile programs, and come into compliance with its international commitments.”

During his visit, Obama will meet with South Korean President Park Geun Hye before visiting American troops in the country.

The US president will then travel to Malaysia as part of his week-long visit to the region.
