A senior official at the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces said resistance forces have pushed back the enemies of the Islamic Revolution to the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, where they will ultimately drown.

“They used to attack our national borders in the early years of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Now, thanks to the nonstop efforts of our armed forces, the enemies of Islam and the revolution have been driven back to Lattakia (in Syria) and the Mediterranean coasts,” General Abbas Sadahi said, addressing a gathering of Air Force commanders in Tehran on Tuesday.

He said the resistance fighters are battling foreign-backed terrorist groups in places some 2,000km away from Iran’s borders, where they are destined to drown in the Mediterranean.

In relevant remarks in 2014, Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami announced that Iran is now fighting the enemies at its strategic borders which have been stretched to the Eastern Mediterranean and North Africa.

“ٌWhile, one day, our nation was fighting the enemy at borders of Karkheh river (in Khouzestan province, Southwestern Iran), now it has expanded its strategic borders in this fight against enemies to the East of the Mediterranean and North of Africa,” Salami said, addressing Basiji (volunteer) forces in the Central province of Isfahan.

“The Islamic Revolution is spreading and the Basiji way of thinking has made the arrogant power face with a deadlock and a landmark historical defeat and failure,” he added.
