Another deadly shooting in the US on Christmas Eve has taken place in St. Louis, Missouri, leaving one person dead and three others badly injured.

The shooting occurred at a convenience store in downtown St. Louis on Wednesday, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the three others were transported to a hospital, where they were all listed in critical condition, according to Schron Jackson, a St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman.

Earlier on Wednesday, a gunman shot and killed a customer who was shopping on Christmas Eve at a mall in New Orleans, Louisiana.

It is not clear if the latest gun violence was related to recent demonstrations in the St. Louis area and across the US over deadly police tactics.

The gun violence happened hours after police released a surveillance video showing a white police officer killing an armed black man in the St. Louis suburb of Berkeley on Tuesday night.

A crowd gathered and clashed with police on Wednesday at the Mobil gas station where 18 year-old Antonio Martin was shot and killed.

Police used pepper spray to disperse demonstrators who threw bricks and attacked police cars.

The city of Ferguson, another suburb of St. Louis, was rocked with protests after a white police officer fatally shot unarmed black teenager Michael Brown in August. Another wave of unrest erupted last month when a grand jury decided not to indict the officer.

A grand jury in New York City ignited more protests across the US for weeks when it decided earlier this month not to indict a white police officer for the chokehold death of Eric Garner in July.
