A US-run airbase in northern Iraq has again been attacked by anti-US groups in retaliation for Washington’s unwavering support for the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
In a statement, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of anti-terror fighters, said it had directly hit the US occupation airbase using a drone on Wednesday.
It said the attack on the airbase, located in the northern Iraqi province of Erbil in the Kurdistan region, was a response to crimes committed by the US-backed Israeli regime against Palestinians in Gaza.
There were no immediate reports about the extent of damage at the military facility, or possible casualties.
This is the second attack on US-run bases in Iraq on Wednesday, with the first attack earlier hitting the Ain Al-Assad airbase in western Iraq.
The Pentagon has admitted its forces have been targeted repeatedly in Iraq and Syria since October 7, when Israel began its onslaught on Gaza. The Pentagon says those attacks have injured several dozens of American troops.
