Egyptians call for action in face of Salughteter israeli attack on Gaza

A pro-Palestinian demonstration was held on Thursday afternoon at the premises of the syndicate of journalists in downtown Cairo.
The protest called on all political groups in Egypt to endorse the isolated Palestinian people in the face of what protesters called the barbaric Zionist aggression against Palestinians in Gaza. It also called on the military-backed government in Egypt to open up the closed borders with Gaza to relieve Palestinians trapped in the coastal strip. Anti-government activists say the Egyptian government is actually facilitating the Israeli attack on Palestinians. Pro and anti-government chants dominated much of the rally, symbolizing a state of division persistent in Egyptian society, ever since the army overthrow of the Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated former President Mohammed Morsi. This is while some observers in Egypt believe, Cairo can still be influential. Many also agree that it can do much better than shy contacts to try to stop the Israeli aggression on Palestinians, though they are not sure of the likely outcome. More anti-Israeli protests in Egypt are planned for the upcoming days, some to be organized by the Islamic anti-government stream. It is not clear how this rising local pressure will sway the Egyptian military backed government into taking an active instead of a passive stance on the unabated Israeli aggressions on Palestinians, and how that in turn could affect the situation.
