Imam Khamenei Leader Pardons Several Iranian Prisoners

Supreme Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei on Saturday pardoned or commuted prison terms of a number of convicts sentenced by various Iranian courts.
Imam Khamenei granted amnesty to 1,249 convicts on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of the Shiites’ 12th and last Imam, Hazrat Mahdi (May God Hasten His Reappearance).

The pardon was made at the request of the country’s Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani.

Article 110 of the Constitution grants the Supreme Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei the right to pardon or reduce the sentences of convicts upon a recommendation from the head of the Judiciary.
