Palestinian Journalist Succumbs to Injuries After Zionist Regime Strike on Gaza Press Tent

A Palestinian journalist has died from severe injuries and burns incurred following an Israeli attack on a tent that was sheltering journalists near Nasser Hospital in the city of Khan Yunis, located in southern Gaza. This incident occurs amidst the ongoing conflict in the besieged coastal region.

A Palestinian journalist has died from severe injuries and burns sustained following an Israeli strike that targeted a tent sheltering journalists near Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, located in southern Gaza. This incident occurs amid ongoing conflict in the beleaguered coastal region.

Palestinian media sources have confirmed that Ahmad Mansour, father and journalist affiliated with the Palestine Today news agency, succumbed to his severe injuries at the European Hospital in the early hours of Tuesday.

Wael Abo Omar, a Palestinian journalist operating in the besieged region, reported on the social media platform X that Israeli missiles had caused severe injuries to fellow journalist Ahmad Mansour. According to the post, Mansour sustained significant burns when missiles targeted the tent in which he was located within the journalists’ encampment at Nasser Hospital.

Mahmoud Bassam, a photojournalist operating out of Gaza, expressed that Mansour requires “a miracle” to recuperate from the extensive burns he has suffered.

This development follows the announcement by Gaza’s government media office, confirming that Helmi al-Faqawi, a journalist affiliated with the Palestine Today news agency, was killed in an Israeli airstrike. The attack targeted a tent designated for journalists located near Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis.

The media office has issued a call to the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and all global press organizations to denounce what it describes as systematic attacks on Palestinian journalists and media personnel in Gaza. In a recent incident, at least two individuals lost their lives and seven more sustained injuries following an Israeli strike on a tent utilized by journalists near Nasser Hospital in the southern Gaza Strip.

Earlier this month, Hamas strongly condemned the deliberate targeting of Palestinian journalists by Israeli forces, describing the actions as a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law.

The resistance group has claimed that the killing of journalists forms part of a broader genocidal campaign allegedly carried out by Israeli forces against the Palestinian population in Gaza.

The movement emphasized the fatalities of more than 200 Palestinian journalists in Gaza, many of whom perished with their families and children, as a result of Israeli airstrikes, shelling, and gunfire. This, they argue, underscores an alleged deliberate and retaliatory effort by the occupying regime to suppress the media and dissuade journalists from exposing the realities on the ground.

Hamas has issued a statement condemning what it describes as unprecedented crimes against journalists within the context of modern conflicts. The group is urging immediate intervention by the international community, the United Nations, and its judicial entities to hold the Israeli leadership responsible for these actions.

The statement urged global media bodies and press freedom organizations to denounce these actions and intensify efforts to boycott and isolate Israel in response to its persistent attacks on journalists and media professionals.
