Pezeshkian: Iran Seeking Methods to Lift Unlawful Sanctions

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has announced that his administration is seeking strategies to lift the unlawful sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic.

Pezeshkian commented on Tuesday during a press briefing at a ceremony hosted at the Foreign Ministry to honor and introduce the new foreign minister.

“The hostile actions taken against our country are harsh. We have upheld our obligations and they must honor their commitments as well,” stated Pezeshkian.

He mentioned that enhancing and fostering relationships with neighboring countries is a key priority for the government.

“The president noted that fostering connections and strengthening relations with neighboring countries renders sanctions ineffective.”

Pezeshkian mentioned that his government’s priorities align with the directives from the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, focusing on building relationships and managing other matters with countries in a manner that upholds dignity, wisdom, and serves Iran’s interests.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, delivered a few concise statements.

He stated that the key priorities of his ministry include paving the way and eliminating barriers in the economic sector, upholding the honor and pride of Iran and its citizens across all areas, safeguarding national interests, and assisting in ensuring the country’s national security.

Earlier today, the newly inaugurated president and his cabinet convened with Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. During the meeting, Khamenei emphasized that fostering national unity and ensuring public satisfaction with government policies are key strategies to overcome the harsh sanctions imposed by the US and the EU.

He expressed that if there is unity within the nation and among the Islamic community, the United States, Europe, and other countries that back the brutal actions of the genocidal Zionist regime will be unsuccessful.

He remarked that the public’s contentment with officials is contingent upon how the officials interact with them.

On Friday, Araghchi announced that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution has tasked the government with counteracting the illegal sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic and mitigating their potential effects on the Iranian people.

“Our foreign policy will be dynamic rather than passive. We aim to actively participate in international forums. As a new global order emerges, it is crucial that we are not bystanders. We need to advocate for our own interests, those of our region, and the broader Islamic world,” stated the foreign minister, who previously served as a nuclear negotiator.

Araghchi mentioned that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution highlighted two main objectives: “The first objective is to counteract the sanctions, which the entire government must strive to achieve. Our primary goal is to mitigate the sanctions and their effects on the population.”

The newly appointed Iranian foreign minister emphasized, “Our foremost priority is our neighboring countries. Following that, our aim is to broaden diplomatic relations with Africa and East Asia. Our third focus is on nations that have supported Iran during challenging times.”
