Report: S. Arabia, Qatar Bribing Egyptian Presidential Candidates

Egyptian security forces announced that they have found different documents showing that Saudi Arabia and Qatar have bribed two Egyptian presidential candidates.

The Egyptian sources reiterated that they have found a number of documents which prove the bribery accusations, and added that investigations into the case are still underway.

Yet, the sources revealed that the bribes had been paid to those candidates who were not qualified for running in the presidential election.

Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris revealed that Qatar has sent $100 million to the country’s presidential candidates.

Saudi Arabia has denied the allegations, but there are many rumors that Riyadh has supported the Egyptian Salafis with a 4-billion-dollar budget.

In interview with the Arab newspaper Al-Akhbar, a Salafi leader admitted the support but claimed that it did not directly came from the Saudi government but through the Salafi and Wahhabi organizations and associations active in the Arab peninsula.
