Head of the Syrian Journalists Association Elias Morad said Tehran would continue support for Damascus as both the Iranian nation and government believe that Syrians will crush the terrorists that are backed by 60 hostile nations.
“The Iranian nation and government are confident that Syria will defeat the plots hatched by 60 world countries for the Arab country,” Morad told FNA on Friday.

He noted that according to the agreements signed by Syria and Iran, the two countries are forced to support each other, specially when one of the two countries becomes the target of foreign aggression.

“Therefore, under the present conditions Iran provides military and non-military logistical support for Syria because the agreements signed between the two sides include mutual aid to consolidate the two countries’ power,” Morad added.

On Wednesday, Iranian and Syrian Defense Ministers Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan and General Fahd al-Freij reviewed ways to coordinate efforts to fight and suppress the terrorist groups in Syria.

During the meeting in Tehran, Dehqan and Freij underlined continued mutual cooperation to fight terrorism, extremism, violence and help to the establishment of sustainable security in the region.

They also underlined the necessity for the further reinvigoration of the resistance front given the sensitive situation of the region and the danger of terrorism threatening the world.

The two sides also stressed the need for Israel’s nuclear disarmament, and said strengthening unity and integrity of Islamic and independent countries is inevitable to thwart the Zionist regime’s plots.

During the meeting, the two officials expressed regret over the critical situation created in Yemen as a result of the Saudi attacks, and called for immediate halt to the air strikes.

They also warned of the unpredictable consequences of the airstrikes for Riyadh, saying that the Saudi attacks would result in the spread of terrorism and insecurity in the region.
