Public opinion best judge of Israel crimes: Iran official

World public opinion is the best judge of the Israeli regime’s crimes against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, a senior Iranian official says.

In a Sunday telephone conversation with Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement of Palestine Ramadan Abdullah Mohammad Shallah, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani stressed that the public opinion strongly condemns the brutal killing of Palestinian women and children by the Israeli regime.

Over the past days, people have been holding massive demonstrations in different countries across the world, including a number of European states, in support of the innocent Palestinians who are targeted in Tel Aviv regime’s recent deadly military assault on Gaza.

Shamkhani added that Israel’s ongoing onslaught on the besieged Gaza Strip will result in another victory for Palestinians and the expansion of the resistance power as was the case with the 22-day and 8-day wars.

Between December 2008 and January 2009, Tel Aviv waged a war against Gaza, during which more than 1,400 Palestinians, including at least 300 children, lost their lives. Almost four years later, in November 2012, the Israeli regime conducted an 8-day war against the blockaded coastal enclave, in which over 160 Palestinians were killed and about 1,200 others were wounded. Israel did not achieve its declared objectives in either of the wars.

“The brutal killing of Palestinians by the Zionists and the withstanding of people and resistance groups have once again brought before the eyes of the Muslims the main issue of the Islamic world, which is the increasing danger of the Zionist regime,” Shamkhani said.
Abdullah, for his part, referred to the increasing power of resistance forces to fight the Zionist enemy and emphasized the presence of good sprit and confidence among Palestinian fighters and people for a final victory.

He also thanked the Islamic republic for its support for the resistance, noting that the fighters will give a decisive and powerful response to the massacre of Palestinians by the Zionist regime in the occupied territories.

Israeli warplanes and tanks have been pounding numerous sites inside the Gaza Strip and killing innocent residents of the impoverished Palestinian enclave since July 8.

The Palestinian death toll from 20 days of Israeli aerial and ground assaults on Gaza has reached about 1,062 and at least 6,000 Palestinians have been injured in the onslaught.
