Qalibaf: Zionist Regime’s ‘Delusional’ Rhetoric Aimed at Disrupting Indirect US Talks

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stated that Iran dismisses Israel's rhetoric against the Islamic Republic as delusional, suggesting it aims to sway the ongoing indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington.

During an open parliamentary session on Tuesday, Qalibaf responded to comments made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Two days prior, Netanyahu had advocated for the total dismantlement of Iran’s nuclear capabilities, suggesting the “only good deal” would mirror the 2003 agreement reached with Libya.

He stated that the positions were dismissed as mere rhetoric aimed at influencing the ongoing indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, and emphasized that they are not taken seriously.

He noted that the Zionist regime would refrain from undertaking any reckless actions without the approval of the United States.

Qalibaf issued a stark warning, stating that any offensive against Iran would amount to “igniting a powder keg,” with the potential to destabilize the entire region and endanger all American bases situated in neighboring countries, as Iran prepares a measured response.

He further emphasized that the survival of the Zionist regime is dependent on acts of violence and crime, suggesting that the notion of peace and stability is unsettling for it.

The speaker of the Iranian parliament has accused the Israeli prime minister of deploying hostile rhetoric against Iran as a strategy to avert his political downfall.

In a scathing critique of Benjamin Netanyahu’s political career, assertions have been made characterizing him as a corrupt figure whose repeated boastful declarations have often preceded significant setbacks. His alleged apprehension regarding the Palestinian group Hamas is said to have led to an increasingly delusional disposition.

In a statement posted on X on Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi accused Netanyahu of attempting to influence and dictate U.S. policy in ongoing negotiations.

The top diplomat highlighted that Iran possesses the strength and confidence to counter any attempts by external adversaries to undermine its foreign policy or influence its direction.

Iran and the United States have engaged in three rounds of indirect negotiations, facilitated by Oman, concerning Tehran’s nuclear program and the lifting of U.S. sanctions. A fourth round of discussions is anticipated to take place in the near future.
