Iran’s defense minister in Afghanistan

Minister of Defense and Logistics of Armed Forces Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi, heading a high-ranking military delegation, arrived in Kabul Saturday morning.

Upon his arrival, Vahidi was officially welcomed by several Afghan senior officials at Kabul international airport.

Vahidi’s visit to Afghanistan is taking place at the invitation of his Afghan counterpart Abdul Rahim Wardak.

Iranian defense minister is to meet several Afghan political and defense officials to review bilateral, regional and international issues.

This is the first visit to Afghanistan of an Iranian defense minister following the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Vahidi is also the first Iranian defense minister visiting Afghanistan in the past 92 years.
