Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi says the continuation of discord and conflicts in regional countries serve the interests of the Israeli regime.

In a meeting with Zuhair al-Khatib, a member of Lebanon’s parliament, on Monday, Roknabadi said enemies find the continuation of unrest in Syria beneficial to their own interests and therefore are not trying to resolve the crisis.

The Iranian envoy said the “continuation of conflict and disagreement among regional nations is the best option” for the Israeli regime.

Unrest has gripped Syria for over two years and many people, including large numbers of Syrian soldiers and security personnel, have lost their lives in the foreign-sponsored militancy.

Lebanon’s parliament member, Khatib, told Iran’s envoy to Beirut that since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Iran has tried to resolve religious discord and has always supported Lebanon’s unity and solidarity.

The Lebanese lawmaker also commented on Iran’s presidential election of June 14, saying that the vote demonstrated the existence of real democracy in the Islamic Republic.

Iran’s President-elect Hojjatoleslam Hassan Rohani emerged victorious in the presidential election of June 14, which was marked by a high voter turnout, winning 50.7 percent of a total of 36,704,156 ballots counted.

The voter turnout in the election was 72.7 percent, according to Iran’s Interior Ministry.

Nearly 50.5 million Iranians, including more than 1.6 million first-time voters, were eligible to participate in the presidential, and City and Village Islamic Council elections.
