The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei in a message to the Mirza Koochak Khan Jangali Congress has stressed the religiously-motivated movement led by Mirza.

According to IRIB, in the message read to the audience by The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei’s representative in Rasht, Gilan Province – where the movement was based and the Congress is being held – The Supreme Leader said that is a matter of happiness and glory that the name of Mirza is still alive due to his sincerity.
The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei also termed virtuousness of Mirza as an exception of that historical juncture, since his movement received massive support from the people.
A national congress commemorating Mirza Koochak Khan Jangali opened on Saturday in the presence of President Mahmud Ahmadinejad, and attended by thousands of ulema, elites, thinkers and intellectuals.
Mirza Kochak Khan Jangali (1880-1921), an early 20th century revolutionary and a national hero in modern Iranian history, had founded a revolutionary movement which was based in the forests of Gilan, known as the Nehzat-e Jangal (Movement of Forest). His uprising started in 1914 and remained active against domestic and foreign enemies until 1921.
Mirza proved that an Islamic nation would not tolerate aggressors and colonialist powers.
