Report: Terrorists in Syria planning chemical attack on Israel

Arabic-language Russian news website Rusiya Al-Yaum has reported that foreign-backed militants fighting in Syria are planning a chemical attack on Israel.

In the report on Monday, it was claimed that “armed Syrian militants will use territories controlled by the Syrian government to perpetrate their provocative plan.”

In the past, the Syrian government has said that the rebels are responsible for the chemical weapons usage in the country.

A few days after the chemical attack in question, the official state Syrian TV published a report in which Syrian soldiers suffered chemical related symptoms after entering a militant position, where they found chemical materials related to the attack.

On Monday, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said that the US and its allies are using the issue of chemical weapons as a pretext to launch a war against his country.

The United States accused Syria of applying chemical weapons against civilians, a claim refuted by Damascus.

Washington has failed to convince international community on its claims against Damascus yet it is lobbying hard to gather international support for attacking Syria.
