Resistance Leader Nasrallah: Netanyahu’s Gaza Aggression is an Attempt to Distract from ‘israeli’ Crisis

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah claims that Benjamin Netanyahu initiated Israel's most recent devastating campaign of shelling and targeted killings in the Gaza Strip in a bid to draw attention away from the internal troubles in Israel.

The Hezbollah secretary-general asserted that the tactics of the Israeli prime minister have not succeeded in achieving the desired outcome.

At a ceremony in Dahiyeh, a suburb of Beirut, on Friday, the leader of Lebanon’s resistance movement paid tribute to Sayyed Mustafa Badr al-Deen, a military leader of Hezbollah and an advisor to the resistance movement’s head, on the seventh anniversary of his martyrdom.

Hailing Badr al-Deen as an “insightful commander” with a profound understanding and a tactical mindset, Nasrallah stated that he had attained all of the “honorable medals” a resistance fighter could possibly obtain.

Hezbollah’s leader declared that Badr al-Deen’s persistent demands for collaborating beneath one unified emblem demonstrated the solidarity of the Axis of Resistance.

Nasrallah expressed his sympathy to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad resistance group on the death of its commanders from recent Israeli airstrikes.

Nasrallah declared that Netanyahu was the one who began the aggression by killing three al-Quds Brigades commanders from Islamic Jihad, as well as several women and children. It was evident that Netanyahu was attempting to re-establish deterrence, escape the internal crisis, address the divisions in his cabinet, and boost his political and electoral standing.

Prime Minister Netanyahu’s calculations proved to be unsuccessful when he chose to go after the Islamic Jihad movement and leave the other factions untouched, resulting in chaos within the opposition forces, he added.

Nasrallah remarked that Islamic Jihad acted prudently after the assassination of its leaders in the al-Quds Brigades, noting that the Israeli adversary was expecting a response from the organization. When the leadership chose to remain tranquil, the enemy was left nonplussed.

Nasrallah praised the strength of the resistance in Gaza, attributing it to the unity between the Palestinian factions. He noted, “The solidarity between the Palestinian resistance factions has stood in the way of the occupier’s ambitions.”

The secretary-general of Hezbollah lamented that the international community had remained silent and the US had barred the UN Security Council from voicing out its condemnation of Israel for the killing of women and children in Gaza.

Nasrallah declared that the battle of Gaza is of great importance, and its repercussions reach far beyond just the Strip. He added that his party remains in close contact with the leadership of the resistance in Gaza and is ready to provide assistance anytime it is needed.

For the past four days, the Israeli regime has relentlessly bombarded the Gaza Strip, leading to the deaths of civilians, including women and children, and the assassination of several resistance commanders. As a result, Palestinian resistance factions have fired approximately 1,000 rockets towards Israeli cities and settlements in retaliation, according to the Israeli military.

Syria remained steadfast in both its approach and tactics.

On Friday, during a televised speech, Nasrallah praised Syria’s readmission to the Arab League after more than a decade as an “important step,” and commended Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for his invitation to the upcoming Arab summit. The Hezbollah chief noted, “Syria remained in place and did not change its position or axis,” adding that “all the positive developments in Syria took place with the blessings of the steadfastness of its leadership, army and people.”

Nasrallah emphasized that Lebanon’s national interest would be served by the restoration of relations with Syria, asking, “What are we waiting for?”

He argued that the reconciliation of Lebanon and Syria is necessary, adding that “if Hezbollah had been in control in Lebanon, relations with Syria would have been re-established much earlier.”

On Sunday, Arab representatives in Cairo voted unanimously to reinstate Syria’s membership in the Arab League after a 12-year suspension. All 13 of the 22 states present at the session endorsed the decision. Syria, one of the League’s founding members, had been suspended in 2011 when foreign-backed militancy began in the country.

Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah has made his choice known in Lebanon’s presidential election.

Nasrallah commented on the upcoming presidential elections in Lebanon and declared that Hezbollah had chosen Suleiman Franjieh, a Christian politician and former Minister, as the movement’s candidate.

Our selection of a candidate was made with care and consideration, and we are standing behind this nomination with full support within the Lebanese structure, without forcing our candidate onto anyone. Everyone is free to nominate whoever they want.

We are thankful that the caretaker government is continuing to carry out its work within the confines of the constitution, despite all the difficulties.

Since the 1975-1990 civil war, Lebanon’s presidency has been in a state of stalemate multiple times. Furthermore, since May 2022, the country has been led by a caretaker government.
