The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and National Defense Forces (NDF) received necessary reinforcements on Saturday night, as members of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) and soldiers from the 106th Brigade of the Republican Guard arrived before sundown to prepare for a counter-offensive at the Al-Ghaab Plains in the Hama Governorate.

On Saturday, the militants from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and their allies from Ajnad Al-Sham and Jaysh Al-Islam were able to capture the Al-Tanimiyah Checkpoint and the village of Ghaniyah, pushing their way into the nearby town of Qurqur before nightfall.

After the Islamist offensive was forestalled, the Syrian Armed Forces launched a counter-offensive at night that resulted in the recapture of the Al-Tanimiyah Checkpoint and the village of Ghaniyah, killing a confirmed 48 enemy combatants from Jabhat Al-Nusra, Ajnad Al-Sham, and Jaysh Al-Islam.

The Syrian Armed Forces did not stop there, as the Islamist groups were attempting a night mission near the village of Al-Mansoura, the 106th Brigade ambushed convoy, killing over 15 enemy combatants and wounding another 11 in the process of the attack.

Fighting dissipated around 4 A.M., but later resumed at 6 A.M. when the militants from Jabhat Al-Nusra attacked Ghaniyah from the western Axis, attempting to retake the village from the Syrian Armed Forces – clashes still ongoing.
