Ribkov: Militarizing Syrian-Turkish Borders will Escalate Tension along These Borders

Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Riabkov warned of militarizing the Syrian-Turkish borders as it will lead to escalate tension along these borders.

“The Syrian-Turkish borders have become less quiet due to many factors, mainly the lack of the political will of a number of countries to ensure the circumstances for finding a political solution to the current situation in Syria,” Riabkov said in statements in Brussels on Wednesday.

He called on these countries to exert efforts for finding a political solution instead of using military methods to change the situation in their interests.

On Turkey’s request to deploy NATO’S Patriot missiles along with its borders with Syria, Riabkov pointed out that this issue should be inspected, adding that we have to know the reactions of Turkey’s allies in NATO, which has announced receiving the Turkish request and promised to consider it soon.
