Rif Dimashq: Syrian Army Unearths a Large Tunnel in Douma

The Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard (Harss Al-Jamhouri) unearthed a large tunnel in the rebel stronghold of Douma on Monday morning, killing 11 enemy combatants from Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) before entering the supply tunnel.

According to a military source, the tunnel was specifically used to transfer and store supplies for Jaysh Al-Islam; it was located northeast of the city of Douma at the Al-Wafadeen Refugee Camp.

The tunnel contained several booby traps that required SAA sappers to dismantle in order to seize the contents inside.

Once the tunnel was declared safe to enter, the 105th Brigade confiscated the large cache of canned food, ammunition, weapons, medicinal drugs, and telecommunication devices.

No further details were given on the contents inside the tunnel.
