Sanctions show West’s weakness

Iran’s president says sanctions slapped on the country indicate the “weakness” of those behind the move as “they would have attacked us if they were in a position of power.”
“They are desperate in the face of the Iranian nation’s logic,” President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in an interview with the Iranian daily Iran .
“Their every move ended in failure. They launched psychological warfare and made threats, but to no avail. Now they say they are imposing sanctions on us,” said the president.
He described sanctions as a “blessing” as they can help spur national development with reliance on home-grown expertise.
Elsewhere in his interview, President Ahmadinejad underlined that Iran will not withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and the International Atomic Energy Agency despite the fact that the nuclear watchdog is under US pressure and makes decisions accordingly.
“The logic of diplomacy requires that we maintain our presence in all international circles,” said the president.
The president then pointed to Iran’s need for nuclear fuel to launch “four to five reactors to produce medicine.”
Ahmadinejad arrived in the United States on Sunday to attend the 65th United Nations General Assembly session in New York City.
