Increasing insecurity and worsening economic conditions in Saudi Arabia are to blame for Saudi Mufti’s Mercedes being stolen.
Col. Fahd Al-Ghannam, Medina police commander said that Sheikh Ali Abd-ur-Rahman al-Hudhaifi, the current imam of Madina’s Masjid al-Nabawi, contacted the police station to report that his silver-colored Mercedes has been stolen last night 9 PM local time.

“Following the report of the stolen car, police dispatched all points bulletin for the stolen car, and an extensive search was launched,” added the commander.

Mounting economic hardships in Saudi Arabia has raised insecurity and burglaries in some cities. Saudi Statistics Bureau has announced unemployment as high as 12.1 per cent.

Analysts believe this statistics did not reveal the realities and the number of unemployed was around 1.5 million people. Saudi working population is 4,390,000 people, more than 85 per cent of which are men.
