Islamic Republic of Iran Foreign Ministry summons Azeri ambassador

IRI Foreign Ministry on Tuesday summoned the Azeri ambassador to Tehran Javanshir Akhoondov over sacriligious acts in that country.

A note has been given by Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Pacific Affairs Abbas Araghchi to the Azeri envoy conveying Tehran’s serious protests against insults to religious sanctities in that country.

The ambassador after hearing the position of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, promised to immediately transfer the objection note to Baku.

Iranian Embassy in Baku also has issued a statement in this regard and the Iranian ambassador has been recalled to Tehran for consultations.
