Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Purges Terrorists from More Regions in Damascus Countryside

 

The Syrian army continued its mop-up operations in the Eastern countryside of Damascus by purging terrorists from key regions.

The army units also pushed back terrorists from took back their positions advanced further into Eastern suburbs of Damascus.

The Syrian troops killed tens of terrorists and injured dozens more in fierce clashes over controlling of strategic regions. They also destroyed military equipment of the terrorists.

The Syrian army also continued its advances in other key provinces across Syria.

Damascus

The Syrian Army Special Forces continued to hit terrorists’ positions and won back more lands along the roads to Jobar and Ein Terma regions.

The army resumed military operation in the Eastern suburbs of Damascus, hitting militants at both Jobar and Ein Terma.

According to a battlefield source, pro-government forces advanced inside Jobar, seizing a number of points in the Taibeh area after hours of bloody clashes.

Other units of the army recaptured several buildings within the Taibeh in Northeastern Jobar, following heavy clashes with the Takfiri terrorists.

The Syrian Army also broke through Faylaq Al-Rahman’s front-lines in the Western part of Ein Terma, capturing several points from the militants.

The Syrian soldiers also managed to prevail over the militants’ defense lines near the al-Kheir market compound.

An army officer pointed to the military importance of Jobar, and said that the Syrian army has dispatched a large number of forces and a large volume of equipment to this front and also summoned a large number of its experienced soldiers to Jobar battle.

The source said that rifts are widening in the terrorists’ front, adding that the army soldiers are to cut off all the supply lines to Jobar and lay siege on the militants inside the region.

He further said that the pro-government forces are to bypass the enemy front from the Northern and Southern directions in order to pave the ground for a final attack on Jobar.

Hama     

The Syrian Air Force intensified anti-ISIL flights in Northern Hama, killing and wounding tens of terrorists.

The army aircraft carried out several combat sorties over ISIL’s positions in the village of al-Qastal al-Shamali, destroying their military equipment and killing a number of them.

In the meantime, the fighter jets launched heavy strikes on ISIL’s concentration centers in the villages of Abu Habilat, Um Meil, Qalib al-Thowar, Aqayrabat and al-Albawi, leaving tens of terrorists dead and several position and military vehicles destroyed.

Relevant reports said on Wednesday that the Russian strategic bombers conducted strikes on ISIL targets in Syria, using modern X-101 strategic cruise missiles.

Several weapon stockpiles and a terrorist command center were destroyed in the strike.

Russian Air Force Tu-95MS strategic bombers have conducted strikes on ISIL positions near the border of Syrian Hama and Homs provinces on Wednesday, the Russian military said in a statement.

 “Three large weapon and ammunition stockpiles alongside with a command center near the town of Aqayrabat were destroyed in the strike, which was confirmed by objective control measures,” the statement added.

The newest Russian X-101 airborne strategic missiles were used in the strike. While the effective range of the missiles is up to 4,500km, the strikes were conducted from a range of around 1,000km.

The Tu-95MS bombers took off from an airbase near the Southern Russian city of Engels and made their way to Syria after airborne refueling.

Su-30SM fighter aircrafts, based at the Humeimim Air Base in Syria, provided support and cover to the strategic bombers.

All aircraft returned to their bases after successfully completing the mission, according to the Russian military.

Missiles of this type can be fitted with nuclear warheads, after which they receive the X-102 designation.

Homs

The Syrian Army troops continued to hit ISIL’s defense lines in the depth of the country’s Badiyeh (desert) and managed to impose control over more strategic heights.

The army units that laid siege on ISIL terrorists in al-Heil energy field on Wednesday continued to hit the terrorists’ defense lines and imposed control over three key heights overlooking East of Jabab Hamd on Thursday.

The newly-captured heights are located only 8km away from Jabab Hamd.

A military source said that a number of ISIL terrorists were killed or wounded and their military hardware were damaged in the attack.

In relevant developments in the province on Wednesday the army forces stormed ISIL’s defense lines in Badiyeh and laid siege on the terrorists in al-Heil energy field near the strategic town of al-Sukhnah.

The army units managed to lay siege on the terrorists in al-Heil oilfield from the Western, Southern and Southeastern directions of Palmyra city.

A military source said that the army forces have deployed 1km away from al-Heil energy field, adding that al-Heil that is located 40km Northeast of Palmyra and near the key town of al-Sukhnah is the most important and largest base of ISIL in Syria’s Badiyeh.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army troops and Air Force targeted heavily ISIL’s positions and movements in and outside the Southern city of Deir Ezzur, killing and wounding a number of terrorists and destroying their military hardware.

The army’s artillery and missile units pounded ISIL’s strongholds in the village of al-Baqaliyeh in the Western outskirts of Deir Ezzur, destroying a military vehicle and killing a number of terrorists.

In the meantime, the army aircraft carried out several combat flights over ISIL’s gathering centers in al-Thardah region, al-Tayem desert, the neighborhoods of al-Roshdiyeh, al-hamidiyeh, al-Huweiqa, Huweijeh Kateh and the villages of al-Janineh and al-Baqaliyeh, killing and wounding a number of militants and destroying a cannon.

In relevant developments in the province on Wednesday, the army aircraft bombed heavily ISIL’s gathering centers and supply lines in regiment 137 base, Jonayd division base, al-Karfanat region, al-Orfi neighborhood, al-Jafrah passageway, al-Zera’a region, al-Habibeh square and in the villages of al-Hosseiniyeh and al-Huweiqa, destroying several positions and killing a number of terrorists, including several non-Syrians.

In the meantime, local sources reported that six ISIL members were killed and several more were injured in a bomb blast at a terrorist position in the town of Boqrus in al-Mayadeen region.

The sources further pointed to a fresh round of infighting among the ISIL terrorists and added that tensions have intensified between ISIL’s security forces and Islamic police in most Western regions of Deir Ezzur province.

They added that tensions among the ISIL forces intensified after one of the commanders of the ISIL, nom de guerre Musa al-Hassan, was arrested by ISIL police causing al-Hassan’s forces to attack the police checkpoint, killing an ISIL policeman and arresting several more.
