Protests in Front of Enemy of Syria Meeting Headquarter

A demonstration in support of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad took place in front of the Istanbul Congress Center where the second so-called “Friends of Syria” meeting started on Sunday morning, NOW Lebanon’s correspondent reported from Turkey.

Lots of people wearing jackets with the Syrian flags and carrying pictures of Assad as well as Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah chanted pro-Russian and pro-Syrian slogans, the correspondent said.

The Turkish security forces surrounded the demonstrators and removed them by force, other media reports said.

The demonstrators waved Syria, Russian and Chinese flags and brandished pictures of the Syrian leader. “Allah, Syria, Bashar, that’s it” and “Down, down USA” they chanted.

Mahmoud Abdulatif, a Syrian lawyer who joined dozens in a similar protest outside a conference hotel used by delegates, accused Gulf Arab leaders and others of meddling in Syria. “There can be no foreign involvement in Syria,” he said.
