Source: Terrorists Losing Control of Strategic Routes in Eastern Ghouta

The Syrian army has taken back control of the roads leading to the Eastern Ghouta region in Reef (countryside of) Damascus, informed sources announced on Tuesday.
“The armed rebels have lost control of Al-Samir and Al-Nashabiya routes (in Reef Damascus) and as a result, terrorist attacks on Edra region have been remarkably reduced,” an informed military source told FNA, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

The source underlined that security conditions in Reef Damascus have considerably improved after the Syrian army won back control of Al-Samir and Al-Nashabiya routes.

He pointed to the strategic importance of Meda-Ghouta route, and said that the army has killed more than 80 armed rebels in an ambush operation on militants on the same route.

On Monday, the Syrian army’s artillery units pounded armed rebels’ gathering centers in Al-Moazamiya town in Reef (suburbs of) Damascus.

Concurrent with the army’s artillery attacks on Al-Moazamiya, the infantry units engaged in fierce clashes with the militants in the same region, FNA dispatches said.

The Syrian troops also clashed with the militants in three districts of Yalda town in Reef

The conflict in Syria started in March 2011, when sporadic pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following the intervention of western and regional states.

The unrest, which took in terrorist groups from across Europe, the Middle-East and North Africa, has transpired as one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history.

As the foreign-backed insurgency in Syria continues without an end in sight, the US government has boosted its political and military support to Takfiri extremists.

Washington has remained indifferent to warnings by Russia and other world powers about the consequences of arming militant groups.
