Speaker calls on Iraq to expel MKO

Ali LarijaniIranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani called for expulsion of members of the anti-Iran terrorist group, the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) from Iraq.

Meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Ayad al-Samarraie in Baghdad, Larijani said the presence of MKO in Iraq is not beneficial to the country and Iran asks Baghdad to expel it from Iraqi territories based on international regulations.

Meanwhile, Larijani asserted Iran is positive that Iraqi nation will gain victory against occupiers of the country and “will cut the hands of occupiers off its territory.”

Elsewhere, Larijani underlined that Iran will employ its potentialities to promote the ties between Iraq and Syria, the Iranian students news agency reported.

He stated that Iran has good ties with both of the countries and will employ it potentialities to aid them promote ties.

Asked about the probability of mediation between Iran and the US, he noted, “There is no need for mediation, Iran’s stance towards the US is clear.”

Also regarding whether Iran’s support for Iraq is a means to interfere in its affairs, he said, “I am facing a weird question here, if I say we support (Iraq), you would say you interfere and if I say we don’t defend it, you would say you are an enemy. We favor the process of development in Iraq.”

He further announced parliaments of Iran and Iraq have signed a parliamentary agreement to expand cooperation.
