Swiss ambassador to Tehran released

Iran’s Foreign Ministry confirms a report about the detention of Swiss Ambassador to Tehran Livia Leu Agosti, saying she was freed a few hours after her arrest.

An informed source with the Iranian Foreign Ministry told Press TV on Saturday that local security officials arrested the Swiss diplomat on Wednesday while on a trip to the country’s North Khorasan Province.

He added that the trip took place with the knowledge of related organizations and said the envoy was arrested “because her identity was not established at the time.”
