Syria insurgents take 200 Kurds hostage

Foreign-backed Takfiri insurgents in Syria have taken hostage about 200 Kurdish civilians after clashes in two villages in the east of the country.

According to Press TV, insurgents form the al-Qaida-linked Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant seized control of the village of Tall Aren in Aleppo province on Wednesday and were laying siege to a nearby village called Tall Hassel.
There were no immediate details about the hostages but they are all said to be from the two villages.
The Kurds in the region had recently forced the insurgents out of the area.
Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies — especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey — are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.
According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 people have been killed and a total of 7.8 million of others displaced due to the violence.
