Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Kicks off Operation to Purge Deir Ezzur Deserts of ISIL

The Damascus Army launched a major operation in the Eastern deserts of Deir Ezzur on Tuesday to hunt the remaining pockets of the ISIL terrorists.

The Syrian army launched a major operation against the ISIL from Tal al-Saroukh in al-Sukhnah deserts South of al-Shoula in Southwestern Deir Ezzur to the Northwest of al-Tanf in Southern Homs near the border with Iraq.

The government army troops further advanced 30km in the region against ISIL and deployed to the village of Nayriayah.

Meantime, the Syrian army continued its military advances in other parts of Syria over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in provinces across Syria.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army launched a major operation in the Eastern deserts of Deir Ezzur on Tuesday to hunt the remaining pockets of the ISIL terrorists.

The army forces launched a major operation against ISIL from Tal al-Saroukh in al-Sukhnah deserts South of al-Shoula in Southwestern Deir Ezzur to the Northwest of al-Tanf in Southern Homs near the border with Iraq.

The army men further advanced 30km in the region against ISIL and deployed to the village of Nayriayah.

In the meantime, the Syrian Air Force bombed heavily ISIL’s movements near Aweiraz Dam, near T2 Oil Pumping Station in Southwestern Deir Ezzur, T3 Oil Pumping Station in Eastern Homs and several roads at Deir Ezzur border with Homs in Eastern desert of Deir Ezzur, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

Sweida

The Syrian Army troops continued hunting the remaining pockets of ISIL terrorists in the Eastern Deserts of Sweida, imposing control over more positions over the past 24 hours.

The army men engaged in tough clashes with the ISIL in the depth of the rocks in Toloul al-Safa rugged terrain and seized control over several positions, including several caves used by terrorists as hideouts.

In the meantime, the army’s artillery units and aircraft pounded ISIL’s strongholds in Toloul al-Safa in the depth of the Sweida deserts, inflicting tens of casualties on them.

Meanwhile, a field source said that the army’s operation has slowed down as the terrorists have hidden in their hideouts in the rocks and the rugged terrain.

Homs

The US Army troops, including a hundred marines that have just arrived in the region, have started training terrorists in the US-run al-Tanf base in Southern Homs, an Arab media outlet reported on Tuesday.

The Arabic-language Qatar 21 news website quoted commander of Maqawir al-Thowrah terrorist group, affiliated to the Free Syrian Army (FSA), as disclosing that the US marines have launched training his forces in al-Tanf base at border with Iraq.

The website further said that a large volume of the US’s military equipment has also arrived in al-Tanf.

News sources had announced last week that over a hundred US marines were dispatched to Syria to implement a drill using real ammo.

Hama-Idlib

The Turkish Army forwarded more convoys of military vehicles to Northern Syria as Damascus forces are preparing to kick off an imminent large-scale operation against terrorists in Idlib, Hama, Lattakia and Aleppo provinces, media activists reported on Tuesday.

The sources said that a convoy of Turkish troops, including several military and armored vehicles, has arrived in Harem region in Northern Syria via the village of al-Haamezeh.

The sources further said that the Turkish convoy has been deployed near the village of Kafr Houm in Northern Idlib, adding that the convoy will possibly move towards Turkish army’s truce-monitoring points in Southern and Western Idlib.
