Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Purges Terrorists from More Regions in Damascus Countryside

 

The Syrian army continued its mop-up operations in the Eastern countryside of Damascus by purging terrorists from key regions.

The army units also pushed back terrorists from took back their positions advanced further into Eastern Ghouta.

The Syrian troops killed tens of terrorists and injured dozens more in fierce clashes over controlling of strategic regions. They also destroyed military equipment of the terrorists.

The Syrian army also continued its advances in other key provinces across Syria.

Damascus

The Syrian Army troops continued their operation against terrorist groups in Eastern Ghouta and managed to drive them out of more positions, killing and wounding a number of terrorists.

The army soldiers engaged in fierce clashes with terrorists along the road that connects the town of Ein Terma to Jobar district.

In the meantime, the army’s artillery units and aircraft pounded terrorists’ supply lines in depth of Eastern Ghouta.

A military source, meanwhile, said that the army has gained control over Ein Terma crossroad known as the Death crossroad that leads to Jobar and Ein Terma and also links to the towns of Zmelka and Arbin.

The source went on to say that following the army’s control over the crossroad, any group of terrorists that try to go through the crossroad will be under the fire of the Syrian forces.

Field sources further said that the army soldiers managed to impose control over 10 residential complexes near al-Kabas bridge 1km East of al-Molhaq al-Janoubi road.

In the meantime, the army soldiers engaged in heavy fighting with terrorists East of Tal (hill) Deco and took control over Tal Hawimal.

Deir Ezzur

A local source in Eastern Syria reported that the ISIL terrorist group has concentrated its military equipment in the town of Albu Kamal after the army troops’ advances from Eastern Homs towards Deir Ezzur.

The source in al-Mayadeen region said that the army’s ground and aerial operations against ISIL and pro-government forces’ advances from Eastern Homs towards Deir Ezzur have caused ISIL to transfer its heavy military equipment, tanks and artillery to the town of Albu Kamal from al-Hazam al-Akhzar that are on the outskirts of the same town.

The source further added that the ISIL has transferred its tanks to Albu Kamal and has started to build more bunkers and fortify basements across the town.

The ISIL, meantime, has started planting mines and explosives in the main street of Albu Kamal, the Baghdad street.

ISIL’s measures came after the army troops and their popular allies expanded control to the third power plant near the town of al-Mayadeen.

Aleppo 

The Syrian army troops continued their anti-ISIL operation along the road that connects the town of Ithriya in Hama province to the town of Khanasser in Aleppo province and managed to take control over tens of settlements, villages and farms, restoring more sustainable security to the army’s supply road.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with the ISIL along Ithriya-Khanasser toad and took full control over the region starting from the town of al-Rasafeh in Southern Raqqa up to Ithriya in Northeastern Hama.

A military sources confirmed, meantime, that the army men recaptured over 15 villages and farms and several positions and hills and laid siege on the towns and villages in the Northern direction of Ithriya-al-Rasafeh, paving the ground for the army soldiers to enter Southeastern Aleppo after complete withdrawal of ISIL from the province.

The source further added that the army units killed a large number of ISIL terrorists and destroyed their positions and military vehicles in the attack.

Field sources reported that a number of senior commanders of ISIL, including ISIL emir nom the guerre Abu Adam from Chechnya, Abdul Ra’ouf Salman from Saudi Arabia, Commander of ISIL suicide battalion Abu Jaber al-Sab’awi and Abu Khabab Zaher al-Ali’yowi from Iraq were among the dead terrorists.

The source further added that the army now has full control over Ithriya-al-Rasafeh highway and restored sustainable security to Ithriya-Khanasser road.

Hama

The Syrian Army troops, backed up by the country’s Air Force, launched a fresh round of heavy attacks on ISIL’s defense lines in Eastern Hama, and captured several strategic positions.

The army men engaged in a tough battle with the ISIL in Eastern Hama and managed to drive them out of several key positions, including Sahd9 and 10 East of Seikh Hilal region East of the town of al-Salamiyah.

In the meantime, the army’s artillery and missile units opened heavy fire at ISIL’s positions and movements along the road to Tabareh al-Dibeh, killing and wounding a number of militants and destroying one of their vehicles.

The army aircraft, also, targeted a convoy of ISIL’s military vehicles along the road to the village of Abu Hanaya, destroying two vehicles and killing the entire militants on board.

Homs

Authorities in Homs uncovered a 500-meter-long tunnel in al-Wa’er neighborhood while combing the area.

During canvassing operations in search of what terrorist groups left behind in al-Wa’er neighborhood, the authorities uncovered a tunnel extending 500 meters from one of the terrorist hideouts in Block 8 to Oum al-Qasab area West of the neighborhood.

According to reports, the terrorists had used the tunnel for moving around and transporting weapons and ammo.

Three days ago, the authorities found weapons and ammo left behind by terrorists near al-Ber hospital, which included a mortar launcher, ant-armor rockets, IEDs, an explosive belt, remote detonators, and a box that once contained an Israeli machinegun.

The neighborhood, which is located at the Western outskirts of Homs city, was declared clear of armed manifestations on May 21st after the last of the gunmen who refused the reconciliation agreement reached in March were evacuated along with their family members.

Quneitra

The Israeli Air Force struck the Syrian Army troops’ strongholds in the Southern province of Quneitra for the fourth time in a row.

An Israeli military helicopter targeted two positions of the Syrian Army in areas near the town of Eastern al-Samadaniyeh and another position around the town of al-Ba’ath.

No accurate information has been released on the possible damage to the Syrian army.

In the meantime, the Arabic-language Elam al-Harbi news reported that the terrorists of Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) have intentionally increased their mortar attacks on occupied lands in the Golan Heights to give another pretext to the Israeli forces to target the Syrian Army’s strongholds in Quneitra.
